June 11, 2020
Dear Sensational 2nd Graders,
Today is Thursday, June 11, 2020.  It is National Making Life Beautiful Day!  What can you do to create beauty today?  Maybe you will help, spread joy, or share with another and spread beauty.
I have a slide show for you to remember all the beautiful work we accomplished, the beautiful friendships we formed and the beautiful memories we made.  It's 3 songs long--that's a lot of beauty!

I look forward to seeing you today at RMCS as you return items and get your PBiS gift bag.
I look forward to seeing you Friday at your home for a popsicle and a gift from me.

Be brave and be kind, and be beautiful.
Love,
Mrs. Hock 😀

Week #31 April 13-17, 2020
Week #4 Distance Learning

This week featured the introduction of Google Classroom and Zoom!
Virtual Learning Starts Again Today - MiamiSprings.com | Miami ...

Daily, students visited our Google Classroom to read an announcement in the "Stream" tab and to find one new assignment in the "Classwork" tab.  Google Classroom will be our platform to receive and complete assignments.  Our next step in 2nd grade is to add one new teaching/learning video each day.  Look forward to seeing me, Mrs. Ransom or Mrs. Belisle featured in mini lesson videos starting April 27.

Our 2 Zoom morning meetings were certainly highlights this week!  It was exciting to see everyone again, and we are fortunate to have this video option to connect twice each week.  We all worked to follow video conferencing protocols and use Zoom tools to mute, chat and adjust views.  As we are more comfortable with this technology, this will be a great format for us to share and have fun together.

Here are a few pictures shared with me of learning at home this week.  Thank you also for the writing samples!  I received haikus, stories and reports.

Thank you to Mrs. Rito for creating our PBiS whole-school gift of this video.  Congratulations to everyone!  Celebrate RMCS!

Thank you for all you do!
Mrs. Hock

Week #30 April 6-10, 2020
Week #3 Distance Learning

This post includes a few pictures shared with me of our learning at home this past week, along with a few announcements related to next week.  The best part of my days are the phone calls and email exchanges I have with your children to stay connected and share stories.  Thank you for your support in making those happen during your busy schedules!

  1. On Monday morning please login to google classroom on the chromebook and leave a comment in the stream. Then, I’ll know you are able to access our google classroom.  You should check the stream each morning for announcements.

  1. Monday, April 13th the bus will be bringing supplies and new learning to your bus stop.   You will receive your reader's notebook, math notebook, science notebook and tiny topic notebook.  There will also be new learning packets and the lesson plans for the week.

  1. Starting Monday, April 13th we have to "take attendance".  Attendance will be checked starting at 1:30 each day.  Attendance could mean:
  • replying to our daily email morning message
  • logging into google classroom and posting a comment
  • writing me an email
  • participating in a zoom morning meeting

  1. Starting Monday, April 13th there will be one assignment everyday to do on google classroom in the stream or classwork tabs.  They are listed in the paper lesson plans as well.

  1. On Tuesday, April 14th and Thursday, April 16th you will receive an invitation to a Zoom morning meeting in your google classroom stream.  The meeting will start at 10:30. This will be an opportunity to see everyone, greet everyone, enjoy a quick activity and have a quick share.  The agenda may change and I will share that at the start of the meeting.

  1. Monday, April 20-Friday, April 24th is SBSD spring vacation.

A shout out to everyone who is trying... - Be Here Now Community ...

I am grateful for all we trying to do together.
Be well,
Mrs. Hock

Week #29 March 30-April 3
Week #2 Distance Learning

Signs of Spring, Signs of Hope

Well the highlight of my week was certainly not just one, but the collection of calls and emails I had with each student as we stay connected.  I really appreciated the time we shared!

Thank you everyone for your continued efforts as we adjust and shift daily to our new routines.  Here are some shared pictures of our "Signs of Hope":

I care about you.  I appreciate all you do, and I value each of you.
May you find time for connection this weekend.
